After years of testing out all types of products and home remedies, I thought I'd save you the time and hassle of it all and share with you my top 3 skin care secrets to get flawless and glowing skin :)
1.) If you can't pronounce the ingredients, don't put it on your face.
MY TOP 3 FAVORITE NON-COMEDOGENIC OILS & EMOLLIENTS.
1.) Jojoba oil - Jojoba oil is a great go-to oil for all skin types. This oil is the closet thing to the skin's naturally producing oil, sebum. It tricks the skin into believing that it has produced enough oil and overtime your skin becomes less oily and shiny-looking.
IHerb Cococare Jojoba Oil Natural Hair & Skin Conditoner - $5.87
2.) Shea Butter - The term butter may sound a little scary, but trust me it's not. Shea Butter is ideal for the winter time and harsh, cold weather. It's rich, buttery consistency will guarantee complete moisturization and supple glowing skin.
IHerb NowFoods, Solutions Shea Butter - $7.63
3.) Sunflower oil- Sunflower oil is a multipurpose oil that has a lot of benefits. I literally could go on forever listing the beneficial effects of using sunflower oil for everything (cooking, hair care, etc) but since this is a skincare post, I'll stick to just that :) Sunflower oil helps heal the skin from within and also calms irritation from dermatitis, rashes and sensitivity. It helps keep the skin calm and clear without clogging up the pores. It's definitely a miracle oil that can be used for almost everything.
IHerb Flora Organic Sunflower Oil - $8.90
TIP: Make sure all of your oils are cold-pressed. This ensures that the oil is in the purest form and all the natural and enriching ingredients are active.
1.) If you can't pronounce the ingredients, don't put it on your face.
Products
with fancy-schmancy unpronounceable names are usually packed with harsh chemicals and toxins that kill your skin. yes i said it, KILL! Keep your
skin regimen very simple and use the least amount of products as
possible. Your skin is a healthy, functioning organ and it can and will heal and protect itself. Use products
that are going to help it, not do it's job or destroy it. It takes time
and patience to find the perfect routine for your skin, so be patient.
I
cannot stress this enough! Using the wrong products means that your not
adressing your skins issues and could potentially be adding on to the
issues that you already have. If you have dry skin and are using
products that contain salycic acid and benzoyl peroxide, you're not only
adding on to the dryness and dehydration of your skin, theres also a
possibility that you can suffer a negative adverse effect from using these
products and risk developing acne. Acne is a skin condition that's caused by high levels of bacteria on the skin's surface. If your stripping away your natural oils and destroying your protective
barrier by using harsh products and chemicals, your skin is in a vulnerable state and the acid mantle is completely destroyed and depleted. It has no
protection and cannot function like normal, healthy skin. Because of this, it is likely to become a playground for millions and
millions of harmful bacteria, thus giving you acne. Nourish your skin
and build up its protective barrier with vitamin enriching oils that
contain high levels of fatty acids ,repairing properties and that are
also non-comedogenic so that you don't clog up your pores.

3.) Listen to your skin and only your skin.
There are tons of outside sources that tell you what latest product to try or how to treat and experiment with your skin. DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ! What works for someone else, may not work for you. DO NOT EXPERIMENT WITH HARSH CHEMICALS ESPECIALLY, THEY CAN CAUSE IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE, OR DAMAGE THAT CAN TAKE A LIFETIME TO FIX ! Unless your going to a dermatologist or a professional that can physically assess your skin and prescribe you topicals with harsh chemicals in it and give you step-by-step instructions on how to properly use it, do not experiment with harsh chemicals on your own. Always seek professional advice and always be gentle with your skin.
